About us
www.ludlowfamilytree.org is a web site set up by a small group of ‘Ludlows’
to make the best information on Ludlow genealogy available to anyone who wants
it. We hope it will encourage others to join the study as well as answering their
questions.
The most comprehensive research has been done by Keith and Robin Ludlow
(robin.ludlow@btinternet.com. or +44 (0)1985 213 025) and the web site is
managed by Tony Ludlow (tony@ludlowfamilytree.org. or +44 (0)1420
83922).
The site went live on 19th September 2003 and is being upgraded substantially
from May 2007. It contains information about ongoing research, on DNA
analysis, and historical information as well as databases which can be
downloaded.
Web site being revised
This web site was substantially updated in August 2005 and is going through
another revision now (2007). You should be OK, but if you do have problems
please let me know. Good luck: tony@ludlowfamilytree.org.
The most recent changes (15 May 2007) are:
- New information on our DNA research.
- I have updated the GEDCOM database, ‘keithplus.ged’.
- George Ludlow of Hill Deverill (died 1580) married Edith Windsor
who was descended from Edward I, King of England. So everyone
descended from George Ludlow and Edith Windsor will be descended
from Edward I and earlier kings, including Alfred the Great.
These ancestors are very well documented [4, 23] so I have
entered the relationships into the database ‘keithplus.ged’. Click on
www.ludlowfamilytree.org/royallinks/ for further details.
- More importantly, I have changed the fomat for some UK dates of birth,
death or marriage. No information is lost but it means the dates are
displayed better by genealogical software. (See details in Downloading
the databases). I think I have finally got it right. If you have already
downloaded a version of keithplus.ged, and made changes to it, it is
still possible to make the improvements. just email me and Iwill explain
how to modify your changed database. It is very straightforward.
- I have put many references to biography and sources in the Hill Deverill
family using published work.[4, 23, 26] (See details in Downloading the
databases). This is work in progress.
- I have added a list of references that you may find useful. They are at
the bottom of this page.
